Liam Hemsworth expressed how thrilled he is about this new role as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher, replacing Henry Cavil who played the role for here seasons. He thanked Cavill, who passed the torch to him, on Instagram posted on October 30. “As a Witcher fan I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure. “Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world. @henrycavill @witchernetflix”
Liam Hemsworth will replace Henry Cavill in the Netflix series The Witcher.
The 32-year old Australian actor was officially announced that he will be taking over the role of monster-hunter Geralt of Rivia in the fourth season of The Witcher.
Cavill, who originally played Geralt of Rivia since 2019, made the revelation himself through a social media post last October 30.
“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4. In my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.

The third season of The Witcher has yet to be released. It would mark the last time Cavill will give life to Gerald of Rivia before he passes the torch onto Hemsworth.
The Witcher is a fantasy drama streaming television series created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich for Netflix. It is based on the book series of the same name by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. Set on a fictional, medieval-inspired landmass known as the Continent, The Witcher explores the legend of Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer of Vengerberg and Princess Ciri. It stars Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, and Freya Allan.
The first season was released on Netflix on December 20, 2019. The second season was released on December 17, 2021. In September 2021, Netflix renewed the series for a third season, which will be released in mid-2023.
An animated origin story film, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, was released on August 23, 2021. A prequel miniseries, The Witcher: Blood Origin, will release on December 25, 2022.
Liam Hermsworth is the younger brother of Marvel actor, Chris Hemsworth. He played the role of Josh Taylor in the Australian soap opera, Neighbours that aired from 1985 to 2022. He also played Marcus in the Australian children’s television series The Elephant Princess.
In American films, Hemsworth starred as Will Blakelee in The Last Song (2010), as Gale Hawthorne in The Hunger Games film series (2012–2015), and as Jake Morrison in Independence Day: Resurgence (2016). He also appeared in the films Empire State, Paranoia, The Dressmaker, Isn’t It Romantic?, and The Expandables 2.
Hemsworth was married to singer Miley Cyrus on December 23, 2018 in Nashville, Tennessee. On August 10, 2019, Cyrus announced their separation. Eleven days later, Hemsworth filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. On January 28, 2020, it was announced that their divorce had been finalized.
