Ogie Alcasid licenses songs to Viva Music


Ogie Alcasid and Boss Vic del Rosario agreed that VMPI (Viva Music Publishing, Inc.) will now manage and curate over fifty songs composed by Alcasid including these classics: “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw,” “Hanggang Ngayon,” “Hindi Magbabago,” “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala,” “Ikaw Lang,” “Kailangan Kita,” “Kung Mawawala Ka,” “Minamahal Kita,” “Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka,” “Sa’Yo Lamang,” and “Sa Piling Mo.”

Vic del Rosario, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Viva Communications announced that singer-songwriter and multi-media star Ogie Alcasid has signed an exclusive contract with Viva Music Publishing, Inc. (VMPI), the music publishing arm of the Viva Music Group.

The two parties agreed that VMPI will now manage and curate over fifty songs composed by Alcasid including these classics: “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw,” “Hanggang Ngayon,” “Hindi Magbabago,” “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala,” “Ikaw Lang,” “Kailangan Kita,” “Kung Mawawala Ka,” “Minamahal Kita,” “Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka,” “Sa’Yo Lamang,” and “Sa Piling Mo.”

Asked how much his songs mean to him and of his decision to entrust them to VMPI, Ogie answered, “My music is who I am. It’s part of my history, my life. And, why not Viva?  Viva has been a huge, huge part of my career from the very beginning. And Boss Vic has been very truthful in his dealings and I trust him with what he is going to do with my songs.”

Boss Vic, for his part, is very pleased that Ogie has picked VMPI to be his publisher.

“Ogie was and will always be a Viva star. I am happy to have him back with us together with his memorable songs. It would be really nice to reintroduce those compositions through new versions, use in soundtracks, and maybe even musicals.”

Ogie agreed: “It would be nice for this generation to know my songs. “’Yun ang thrust namin ni Boss Vic and I’m happy about that.”

A number of these works that Ogie licensed to VMPI were used as themes for motion pictures produced by Viva these past thirty years like Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw and Pangarap Ko ang Ibigin Ka.

And as Boss Vic said, Ogie has and will always be a Viva star.  A huge chunk of his showbiz beginnings was spent as a Viva star as he starred in a number of Viva box-office hits such as Captain Barbel, Pedro Penduko II, Mahirap Maging Pogi, Pitong Gamol, and many more.

Aside from the Ogie Alcasid catalog, VMPI also holds the license to the music of Arthur Nery, Thyro Alfaro, Janine Tenoso, Willy Cruz, Louie Ocampo, Dennis and Rene Garcia of Hotdog, Rico Blanco, Jay Durias, Lolita Carbon, Top Suzara and many more.

Love at the End of the World star Nico Locco signs up with the Viva Artists Agency

His most recent work, the BL movie Love at the End of the World, was screened on Vivamax Plus. Nico Locco, Nicholas Timothy Fowler offcam, is an Italian-Canadian international model, actor, and host, currently living in the Philippines. He is known for the 2019 movie Sabado where he became the first foreigner to win a Best Actor in the Gawad Sining Awards and the first foreigner to win the award in a Philippine-based film competition.
