Ian Veneracion, pumayag maging sugar daddy

According kay Ian Veneracion, challenging daw ang character niya bilang abusive and corrupt guy na sugar daddy ng isang magandang babae. Bilang isang aktor, kailangan n’ya daw itong aralin para maging convincing ang kanyang pagganap. “As actors, we don’t have the luxury of not opening certain doors in our minds kasi we have to, ’di ba? Kung hindi natin trabaho ’yon, there are doors that you don’t want to open and that’s fine.”
First time gaganap na sugar daddy ng aktor na si Ian Veneracion sa isang acting project. Ito ay para sa suspense-thiller movie na Nanahimik Ang Gabi, na isa sa mga official entries sa Metro Manila Film Festival ngayong taon.
Sa media conference para sa nasabing pelikula recently, sinabi ng seasoned actor na malayo ang role na ito sa tunay n’yang pagkatao.
“Sobrang layo sa tingin ko sa personality ko so matrabaho. Pero when I read the script…it’s so refined and it is a story that has to be told. So, sulit lahat ng trabaho na ginagawa namin dito,” lahad n’ya sa entertainment press.
At dahil first time nga niya ito, natanong s’ya ng press people kung mahirap ba ang role na ito for him.
Aniya, challenging ang character pero bilang isang aktor daw ay kailangan n’ya itong aralin para maging convincing ang kanyang pagganap.
“As actors, we don’t have the luxury of not opening certain doors in our minds kasi we have to, ’di ba? Kung hindi natin trabaho ’yon, there are doors that you don’t want to open, that’s fine,” paliwanag n’ya.
“Pero as an actor, hindi, e. Kailangan mong pasukin ’yon and deal with it, whatever you find there. Sometimes it’s not what you see is something you don’t particularly like. Sometimes, it’s a hard pill to swallow,” he added.
Hindi nga daw n’ya inakala na magkaka-relate pala s’ya sa karakter n’ya.
“With my character, an abusive, corrupt guy and to see that, ‘Oh, man… I have that in me also.’ Somehow. Kasi we all have that, e, ’di ba?” pag-amin n’ya.
“Pero when you open those doors na parang nakaka-cringy but you have to tackle it because you have to be able to justify the character. In your head, hindi ka dapat apologetic kasi sa paningin ng character tama s’ya, e. ’Yon ’yong mga difficult parts.”
Dahil sineryoso n’ya nang husto ang pagpo-portray sa kanyang role, napansin daw ng direktor nilang si Shugo Praico na nag-transform s’ya noong nagre-record sila para sa isang eksena. Bigla daw kasi s’yang nagmura nang hindi n’ya sinasadya habang tumugtog ng piano.
“Kasi I was trying to describe the feelings of the character doon sa sound na ginagawa namin sa piano. Parang nakikita mo ’yong state of mind ng character doon sa mga notes n’ya, sa mga hindi nagdya-jive na tunog. And ’yon ’yong pinapalabas namin nu’n. Ini-imbibe ko lang ’yong character n’ya,” paliwanag pa ng celebrity hunk.
Biro tuloy ng press people sa kanya ay baka tuluyang sinapian na s’ya ng kanyang karakter.
“Hindi naman. It’s an aspect of myself that I’ve never explored,” sagot ni Ian.
Iyon nga daw ang pinakagusto n’ya sa trabaho nila bilang artista, ang makapag-explore ng iba’t ibang emotions and characters.
“Kaya gustong gusto ko ’tong [trabahong ito]. I think it’s the best job in world because I feel I’ve lived more than hundreds of lives, because of all the roles I played. It’s a rest from being myself, this is also a role that I play, the default role, pero at least ’yon…it’s hard work pero sulit, e, lalo na when you have something to say,” pagtatapos n’ya.
