True Faith’s new album, 11, has six new tracks— ang “Dyahe” na mala-Perfect ang feels. Then there’s the electro-pop tinged “Your Ready Smile.” According kay vocalist Medwin Marfil, 11 is a mix of old and new sound. ’Yong “Your Ready Smile” ang parang pang-millennials nila at ’yong mga tunog-90s ay para sa mga connected pa rin sa era na ’yon and even to the new-gen na mahihilig sa 90’s and even 80’s music.

True Faith decided to call their 11th album simply as 11.

“It’s supposedly our 11th album, but Spotify and Apple Music want to call it an EP (extended playlist) cause it only has six songs. So, ewan ko,” natatawang k’wento ng band frontman na si Medwin Marfil during their media conference for the album launch.

And para sa kanila daw, 11 kind of signifies a momentous coming event. “We don’t know what that is yet,” dagdag ni Medwin.

As for the pusang nagme-medidate sa kanilang album cover, it represents naman daw how they feel about their status in the music industry.

“We’re more relaxed,” paliwanag ni Medwin pa rin, “Parang whatever position we are in the business, we’re fine with that. Whatever the impressions of people of us, okey din kami doon.

“Ang pokus lang talaga is to make music and all that. If this album is going to generate the hit or not, we’re cool with that. That all depends with Viva and us working together. ’Yong pusa, that’s me. I’m a cat lover kasi. Haha.”

And speaking of Viva, balik Viva Records nga ang grupo (after Star Music) at isa raw sa pinag-uusapan nila ay ang magamit ang mga bagong songs nila as OST (original soundtrack) ng mga pelikula ng Viva Films at Vivamax.

“Actually isa ’yon sa mga sinasabi namin sa Viva, na sana magamit sa movie or sa isang show ang mga kanta namin kasi that’s really one way of reaching people ano,” tsika ni Medwin. “Kasi they do watch the movies, they do watch the shows…so, we’re really hoping that Viva will use the songs in this album for other forms of entertainment. We’re really looking forward to that kasi nandito na kami sa Viva. Why not di ba?”

Biggest hit kasi nila ang “Dahil Ikaw,” which they wrote specifically for the ABS-CBN teleserye na sa Piling Mo nina Judy Ann Santos at Piolo Pascual.

For 11,  they have “Dyahe” na mala-Perfect ang feels. Then there’s the electro-pop tinged “Your Ready Smile.”

According ulit kay Medwin, 11 is a mix of old and new sound. ’Yong “Your Ready Smile” ang parang pang-millennials nila at ’yong mga tunog-90s ay para sa mga connected pa rin sa era na yon and even to the new-gen na mahihilig sa 90’s and even 80’s music.

It’s just that when they make music, hindi naman sila consciously doing it for a particular listener. What comes naturally lang from them, ’yon din ang ino-offer nila.

Page-elaborate naman ni Allan Elgar (lead guitars): “We are always open to new technology and at the same time sa new format, new platforms in writing and promoting music.

“We listen to a lot of the newer artists, the younger ones… even the OPM artists na very prominent sa airwaves or streaming sites. We are open to that. But the flavor of True Faith will always be there lalo na’t very distinct ang boses ni Medwin.

“We are not exactly reinventing but we’re always updating ourselves or introducing new innovations to our music.”

Sabi nga ni Medwin, chill nalang sila ngayon. They’re just focused on making good music.

“After three decades, we’ve learned to place ourselves whenever trends come in and go. We’ve learned na not to take things personally. Back in the 90s, when things happened, para bang ‘Ba’t ganon? Ba’t ganyan? Pero these day, ‘Well, you know, it could happen.’ We just learned how to adjust.

“Pati sa relationship with other artists, that’s their style, this is ours. Dati we take all those things personally. Masalimuot dati when you’re younger.

“Now, chill nalang.”

Their six-track album, 11, is available for streaming now on Spotify and other digital music stores.
