Despite their "complicated relationship," Nick Carter, heartbroken over the loss of his baby brother Aaron

Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter was heartbroken upon receiving news that his brother, Aaron Carter, was found dead in the bathtub of his home in California last November 5.

Nick, together with the other Backstreet Boys was in London at that time for their DNA World Tour.

After arriving in London, the 42-year old singer received the tragic news of what happened to his baby brother. But the show must go on.

Onstage at London’s O2, Nick became emotional while singing his verse on their hit single, “Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely.” He wasn’t able to finish and started sobbing on stage.

His band mates, Howie Dorough, AJ McLean, Brian Littrell and Kevin Richardson, rushed to Nick and began hugging him. With tears in their eyes, they paid tribute to Aaron who has become the baby of their boyband.

Kevin Richardson said: “Tonight we’ve got heavy hearts, because we lost one of our family members yesterday. We just wanted to find a moment in our show to recognize him. He’s a part of our family and we thank you guys for all your love and support.”

Hours earlier, Nick posted several throwback photos of the two of them together on social media and wrote on Instagram that his heart had been broken despite their complicated relationship, adding that his love for Aaron never faded.

“My heart has been broken today. Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded. I have always held onto the hope, that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed. Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss. But the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here. I will miss my brother more than anyone will ever know. I love you Chizz, now you get a chance to finally have some peace you could never find here on earth…. God, please take care of my baby brother.”

Aaron’s twin sister, Angel, posted this heartfelt message on IG: “To my twin… I loved you beyond measure. My funny, sweet Aaron, I have so many memories of you and I, and I promise to cherish them. I know you’re at peace now. I will carry you with me until the day I die and get to see you again.”

The Carter siblings loss their other sister, Leslie in 2012 from a drug overdose. She was 25.

According to reports, a woman believed to be Aaron’s house sitter, was screaming ‘He’s dead, he’s dead.’ In a 911 recording obtained by TMZ, the operator states that EMS units are needed at a residence for a ‘female yelling’ and there was a reference to ‘in the tub.’

Law enforcement said they received a 911 call at 11am on Saturday, saying ‘a male had drowned in the tub.’ They were contacted by a house sitter, who had found his body.

Witnesses described a ‘chaotic’ scene at the singer’s house, with police cars, news vans, and people crowding in the streets to see what happened.

Carter’s neighbor Tony Cheval, a local photojournalist, told the U.S Sun that his wife, who is a nurse encountered the screaming woman at Carter’s door.

He explained that he heard on his police scanner that he uses for work a call come in for an unresponsive male in the bathtub at a house in their neighborhood.

Cheval’s nurse wife rushed over to Carter’s home with her AED (automated external defibrillator) and banged on the door, he said.

‘A woman answered the door and was screaming ‘he’s dead, he’s dead’ but wouldn’t let us in because she’d already called the cops,’ he said.

Representatives for Carter’s family later confirmed the singer’s death. His cause of death has not been released. Carter’s fiancée Melanie Martin, who was spotted outside his house in tears, asked for privacy as the family grieves.

The neighbors later spoke to Carter’s devastated fiancée, Melanie, who told them that the woman was the house sitter and was kept for questioning while Martin herself ‘waited for hours’ for information from police.

Homicide detectives were dispatched to the scene, but there is no information or evidence of foul play at this time. Emergency services were spotted outside the home, which has been cordoned off with police tape.

A coroner was seen removing Carter’s body from the home on Saturday afternoon.

The singer’s death comes exactly a week after he tweeted that he had listed his nearly $800,000 house for sale, adding that he is ‘ready for a new chapter.’

Aaron tweeted on October 29: “Selling my 2nd home. Real estate has been super good to me. Ready for a new chapter in my 3rd home which I plan on staying to make a beautiful life for my family. This year has been super tough but I’ve learned so much. Thanks for the support everyone.”

The massive seven-bedroom and four-bathroom house in Lancaster, California, boasts a custom-made outdoor swimming pool, walk-in pantry, and massive fireplace and is surrounded by palm trees.

Aaron was only 9-years old when he opened for the Backstreet Boys tour in 1997. He soon became a child celebrity appearing in numerous TV shows and recording his own albums.

His self-titled debut album in 1997 sold a million copies worldwide. His second album Aaron’s Party (Come Get It) in 2000, sold three million copies in the United States, and Carter began making guest appearances on Nickelodeon and touring with the Backstreet Boys shortly after the record’s release.

Carter’s next album, Oh Aaron, also went platinum, and the musician released what would be his last studio album in over 15 years, Another Earthquake!, in 2002, followed by his 2003 Most Requested Hits collection.

Aaron battled addiction for many years, facing legal troubles and entering rehabilitation. In 2019, he revealed on the medical show, The Doctors, that he was diagnosed with “multiple personality disorder, schizophrenia, acute anxiety, and manic depression.”

In March 2020, Aaron set up an OnlyFans account, which is popular in the adult entertainment industry. Carter began charging $50 to $100 per nude photo, or $26 a month.

In August 2021, Carter was announced as a performer in the Las Vegas production of Naked Boys Singing! He was let go before the show’s debut because he refused to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Aaron had a son named Prince with then-fiancée Melanie Martin. Prince was born on November 22, 2021.

In September 2022, Carter checked into rehabilitation for his drug addiction, after losing custody of his son.
